Week 13 : Science Reflection

Salam and Hye everyone~

During the science class last Tuesday, all group are require to do a 30 minutes simulated teaching to teach the pupils about science using our own "website". Sound interesting right? But it is not that easy. Maybe before this we are use to flash card and white board, it is quite difficult for us to teach the pupils using instructional materials such as website and video.

For my group as example, our website don't work properly like what we has plan. Some of the hyperlink was missing plus the internet connection was to slow. Luckily we still managed to finish the 30 minutes lesson plan with out any other major problems. From this, we can see that technology can bring difficulty if it don't be handle properly but at the same time, technology also got lots of advantages that I think I don't need to introduce anymore.

During my group presentation, Safri and Siti Khatijah was our representative because the simulated teaching was only 30 minutes. Thanks to everyone in the class because willing to listen to our group presentation and give response whenever the "teacher" ask question.

After our group finished our presentation, we been receive comment from other group plus the lecturer also. Some of the comment was about our strength and some of the comment talk about our weaknesses such as not so colourful website and some of the slide was to wordy. Thank you for all the comment, we will try to improve it next time.

Honestly, there are not much to talk about the Science class this week because all the group was presenting. But, I also gain some knowledge when others group was presenting on how they design their website and how to engage the pupils attention. Thanks everyone.

Week 12 : Science Reflection

Salam and Hye everyone~

This week, we are suppose to presented our ideas on how our own science website will look like. Me and my groupmate has manage to come out with a website that is far from perfect as there was lack here and there. We still learning, and we receive the comment positively.

Actually, there is not much to talk during this week class. All group are presented and we suppose to give comment on each others. From my own observation, I can say that everyone has give lots of efforts to do the website.

Lets talk about my group website and presentation, my group website is about Acid and Bases. In the website, we decided to put a homepage, link to Acid and Bases definition, Acid and Bases video, Acid and Bases experiment, and also Acid and Bases task sheet. Everthing about Acid and Bases can be found on our website.

After my group give the explanation about the website, we wait to get the comment from the lecturer and all our friend. There where some good comment and some comment talk about our weaknesses. We accept all the comment with a big heart and promise to make our website more interesting.

Then, we listen to others group presentation and give comment. After each groups has presented their "website", we been asked to discuss about the simulated teaching that will be held next week. Such a long time we don't do simulated teaching. Hope everything will run smoothly.

Week 11 : Science Reflection

Salam everyone.
This week, we are entering Week 11, which mean, there are only 3 more week to go. It is good or bad? I don't know. There are tons of assignment and task that need to be done in the more few week. Hope I will manage to do everything successfully and also managed to pass up everything on the due date.

Okay, now I will talk about what I has learn during this week science class. This week, we are asked to do a draft ideas of how our own science website will look like. YES, a website. I don't has any ideas about how to design a website, but after been given a lecture by Pn. Rohaida, me and my group mate get a clearer ideas of how it need to be done.

First of all, we are asked to do a story board. Why story board is important? Because it help us from become stuck in the middle. Story board also need to be done before we do the website so that, we will has a clearer ideas about the flow of activity that we need to be done, so that everything will run smoothly.

Then, after we finish designing the storyboard, we go and ask Pn. Rohaida about it. She give some comment of it, then give us green light to proceed to the next step that is, search the website, and find any useful materials that can help us in order to design our own Website.

Basically, our group is about to designing a website about Acid and Base for children. So, we need to Google and find any video, definition, activity and etc that can be related to Acid and Base. Because the time is so limited, we decided to assign work to everyone in our group so that, everything can be done fast and we can show it to Pn. Rohaida. Thank you everyone for your commitment.

As an overall, there are two important thing that I has learn this week, first, we need to think before we act. Just like the storyboard, we need to list down all our ideas before we want to proceed to the next activity,so we will not get stuck in the middle and second, work in group is better than work individually. By work in group, everything can be done faster and also, we can share ideas. 6 brain is better that 1 right?

Later on that day, Pn. Rohaida ask us to present it during the next science class. Hope everything will run smoothly.

Week 10 : Science Reflection

Salam and Hye everybody~
This will be my final blog before I go back and celebrate Hari Raya with my family~ Hurray~~

This we start our class with a presentation of the task given by our lecturer last week. From what I can see, there are some group who is quite blur about the task, and I admit that, I also quite blur about the task whether it is a task or an assignment. Then, Pn. Rohaida explain further about the task and tell us that the task is actually an assignment. Luckily, our group has did a good jobs and able to present the task to her even though there are lack thing here and there.

Then, after all group has finish presenting their task, she assign us to do a new task that is, We need to come out with a concept map about the topic that we already chosen. My group choose the topic acid and alkaline. Before this, we has use this topic for our group simulated teaching, so it is not that difficult to come out with a concept map about acid and alkaline.

Before the class finish, we need to present the concept map before we can go back. Based on the comment given by Pn. Rohaida, there are still some weaknesses about our concept map and she give us her opinion on how to create a better and interesting concept map. Thank You madam.

For me, the use of concept map is really useful for the pupil as it help them to memorize better. This is because, the pupil only need to read and memorize the importance terms only. So, by doing a concept map, it could help the pupil to understand the topic better and easier.

The use of making a concept map during this class is, to prepare us for our next assignment. But for now, everybody in the class is in Raya Mood, and maybe because of that, she allow us to leave 30 minutes earlier. Sorry Madam. Raya come once a years. Hope madam will not feel disappointing with our attitude.

Week9 : Science Reflection

Salam..

This week will be a new science week for us as our lecturer, Pn. Rohaida Binti Mohd Saat will take over the class back. This week will be our first week with her.

During the science class, she has introduce us with sPicE Instructional Design Theories or also know as ID. This theories tell me about what I need to know so that I can use the concept in my teaching and learning session next time.

Then, she tell us about the Behaviourist and Cognitivist theorist and their approach to teach science in the classroom. From my understanding, Behaviorist tend to use step to step approach will Cognitivist is more concern about internal processes skills.

Then as usual, we been assign with a task that need to be presented next week. Hope we managed to finish and present the task successfully next week.

Week 8 : Science Reflection

Salam and hye everyone..

This week, En.Fauzi has ask us to read about 2 articles that is, "21st century skills curriculum and instruction" and also "2008 Horizon Report". But for me,I find that 21st century skills appeal more to me because it is more relate to my study and all the points in it is really useful for me.

21st century skills curriculum and instruction article tell about what is 21st century skills, what need to been done to achieve it, how to achieve it, and the impact to the teacher and learners. We also need to did a simple summaries on what we has read.

For me, I think this article is really useful for a future teacher like me because I will need all the knowledge that I can get to make me a better teacher in the future. Thank You En. Fauzi.

This week will be our last week with En.Fauzi. Actually, he is a replacement lecturer because our lecturer, Pn. Rohaida Binti Mohd Saat, has a course to attend. So next week will we will get a new lecturer. Hope she will be as fun as En.Fauzi.

Week 7 : Science Reflection

Last week, we been asked to find any interesting software that is related to science and can be used to teach science in the classroom.
me and my group member manage to find an very interesting website that is, http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ks2bitesize/ which i find that is really interesting to be use in a classroom.

As a future science teacher, we must take note that learning science is fun, but it also can be appeal very boring to the pupils as it only involve facts and several experiment. By make use of the technology surround us, we can avoid the pupils from getting boring and at the same time, we can teach them on how to use the internet properly that is to gain knowledge, not to use it as a medium to do unnecessary things.

I personally think that, by using this kind of software in the classroom, it can help to make the world greener because the teacher don't need to print all the question.
I am really into using this kind of software in my classroom as it can help the pupil to gain knowledge better, and at the same time, the pupils will enjoying learning science. So, they can absorb all the knowledge easier. Tq.
